The Ilana Omo Oodua, an umbrella body of Yoruba groups, has said it will continue to be law abiding in its ongoing clamour for self determination.

The leader, Prof Adebanji Akintoye, stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday to commend the police on their conduct during the last mega rally.

Professor Akintoye stated that the group is committed to conducting its affairs in a peaceful and orderly manner in the clamour for self-determination of Oduduwa Republic.

Matawalle Gives Fresh Directives

Following acts of terrorism against innocent people carrying out their legitimate businesses in Zamfara, the State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle has ordered for immediate closure of some markets in the State.

The markets include Magami Market in Gusau Local Government Area, Dansadau Market in Maru Local Government Area, Wake weekly market in Gusau, and Dauran Market in Zurmi Local Government Area.

Military Commander Sends Message To Soldiers

The Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Kaduna and Bauchi states, says its officers and men will be impartial and avoid bribe-taking in their operations.

Nigeria’s security forces are notorious for extorting impoverished civilians, especially when deployed in troubled areas.

Major General Dominic Onyemulu, Commander OPSH, disclosed this during a visit to Polycarp Lubo, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman in Plateau, on Thursday in Jos.

Another Nationwide Strike Looms

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike over what it describes as unlawful dismissal of civil servants by the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

NLC President, Ayuba Wabba disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, after a meeting of the Central Working Committee.

He said all members of the NLC will down tools nationwide for five days in the first instance and when nothing is done by relevant government agencies, the workers union will think of the next line of action.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, said his principal is not bothered by noise or curses.

Adesina stated this on Friday in his response to people asking questions about President Muhammadu Buhari’s health after his recent medical vacation to London.

Adesina who lamented the opinion of some Nigerians regarding Buhari’s health status, said the president’s life is in the hand of the Almighty God.
