Young Man Alongside His Mother And Girlfriend Sentenced To Jail For Internet Fraud In Delta State

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have announced the conviction of an internet fraudster alongside his biological mother and girlfriend to various prison sentences.

On its official verified Facebook page, the commission noted in the statement that the son, Gift Kenneth, mother, Dora Animam and girlfriend, Spice Chimzi Dandy Igwe were convicted for a $902,935 (Over N371m) internet related fraud in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

While Gift and his mother were convicted and sentenced to a prison term of 5 years each, his girlfriend, however, got a 2 year term behind bars.

They, however, got an option of fine of N3m each for Gift and his mother while the girlfriend got a fine of N100,000.

They were convicted on a one count charge by Justice F. A. Olubanjo of the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State after pleading guilty of conspiring to defraud an American lady, Lucinda Ann Garnes Henrichson of the total sum of $902,935.

The charge was brought up by the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The judge also ordered the forfeiture of the following properties that were seized from the convicts; Mercedes Benz CL250, Mercedes Benz 300, iPhone I1 Promax, iPhone XX Max, Apple Mac book Pro, 2 Apple Mac book, N4, 000,000 found in his account.

Other items included, a Twin 4 bedroom uncompleted duplex in Asaba, the cash sum of N4, 000,000 found on him and $4,255 recovered from his contractor.

The properties are to be restituted to the victim through the American Embassy, the statement further added.

The anti-graft agency has been warning people to stay away from crimes because the fraudsters would be caught no matter how long, and this feat has further buttressed their desire to rid the country of internet related crimes.
