A 25-year-old Nigerian identified as Evans was sentenced to 19 years and six months jail term for killing another Nigerian in Italy.
Evans was then charged to court for a voluntary manslaughter. During the trial, the defendant informed the court that his action was not deliberate.
The Police officers in Foggia reported that Evans killed the 34-year-old during a fight in a restaurant. The deceased was identified as Emeka after the fight.
Emeka was said to work at the restaurant when the fight started. It was reported that the fight was because of the food served. They allegedly walked out of the restaurant as the fight became violent.
Investigators stated that the murder suspect then came back into the restaurant to fetch a knife which he used to kill the victim. The deceased was said to suffer from a stab wound on the chest and another on the throat.
Even though the defendant attorney insisted that her client had acted in self-defense, making it an involuntary manslaughter, the case ended with a jail term.
