The Federal Capital Territory High Court in a ruling stated today that it has the jurisdiction to entertain a suit filed by the members of the Labour Party seeking the removal of the Chairman of the Party, Barrister Julius Abure. Labour Party Legal Adviser, Kehinde Edun has alleged rather that they do not believe that the court has the jurisdiction to rule over the matter.
He stated that they strongly believe that the court has been compromised by Mr. Lamidi Apampa and his sponsors. He stated further that they have filed an appeal to determine the matter. According to him, the proceedings will start next week in court.
He said, ''The jurisdiction is the power of the Court to hear matters brought to it. But the Court said it has the power but we believe the Court lacks the power to hear Barrister Julius Abure case and we believe that the FCT Court has been compromised by Apampa and his sponsors. We have filed an appeal to say the court lacks power, an appeal has been filed today. Records will be transmitted next week, the Court of Appeal will look at it whether that court actually has power to determine this matter.''
