Opinion: Governor Negotiating With Bandits In The North, While Protesters Are Being Arrested In The South

The Governor's aid in Zamfara state is busy negotiating with bandits, who are kidnapping Nigerians from the northern part of country, while Department of Security Services (DSS) is busy arresting protesters from Southern Nigeria.

According to Premium times news of 18th July 2021, Villagers evicted by a banditry kingpin identified simply as Turji started returning home Sunday morning after an aide of the Zamfara State governor met with the outlaw.

Bandits loyal to Turji had sacked several villages in Shinkafi Local Government Area and kidnapped more than 50 people, according to sources.

Meanwhile down south it has been a different ball game as protesters have been arrested and detained by the DSS

According to Punch this morning, Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic .

He was arrested at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night, a top source familiar with the matter told our correspondent.

Igboho was arrested by the security forces in Benin Republic in collaboration with DSS, after three weeks that the Department of State Services declared him wanted, for allegedly protesting and stockpiling arms.

The source told The PUNCH that Igboho will be repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday (today) from Benin Republic, one of Nigeria’s neighbouring countries in the West African sub region.

Some of his Men had earlier been arrested buy DSS when they raided his house in the middle of the night three weeks ago.
