An application to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State's Ward, Local, and State Congresses was rejected by the Osun State High Court in Osogbo.
Some party members who had been expelled from the organization had gone before the court to request an accounting of the party's previous ward and local government congresses and to put an end to the upcoming state congress.
An application to annul the PDP ward and local government area congresses held on April 18 and 19 was set for hearing on May 2 at the court's most recent sitting.
Eight PDP members, led by Segun Odekunmi, filed a lawsuit against the PDP and its acting chairman, Akindele Adekunle, in front of Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, who had already heard their case.
Prior to the court's decision in a case involving the suspension of some party members, Justice Oyebiyi had stopped the PDP from moving further with the conduct of the proposed congresses.
Oyebiyi dismissed the motion on Tuesday, stating that there was no connection between the reliefs requested by the applicants in the original summons and the request for an injunction.
