Women In Anambra State Protest Over Harvesting Of Organs, Murder Of 72-Year-Old Woman

Some women in the Umunze Community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State trooped out in large numbers on Tuesday, the 14th of March, 2023 to protest the murder of a 72-year-old woman, Mrs Charity Okoli, by her domestic worker and his accomplices. 

It was reported that late Mrs Okoli was attacked by her domestic worker and his accomplices. Her finger, tongue and genitals were harvested while she was still alive. 

The victim was rushed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegeu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The prime suspect who was her domestic workers, Onyebuchi Ezeh, got arrested. He confessed that he carried out the erroneous act due to the directives given to him by a native doctor who promised to make him and his accomplices billionaires if they successfully bring the organs to him.

On Tuesday, some women in the community took to the streets to protest over the killing of Mrs Okoli. In the video that surfaced online, they can be seen holding green leaves and placards as they also demand the mass exit of all Abakaliki indigene in the community.

They took their demands to the police headquarters and also to their king’s palace.

The monarch, Igwe Promise Eze, however, asked members of the community to remain calm as the police will ensure that justice is served.
