There are strong indications that many Nigerians across the country will gather in public protests to stage anti-EndSARS anniversary protests.
Recall that many lives were reportedly lost during EndSARs protests in Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State last year October.
Human Rights Activists including Omoyele Sowore and Deji Adeyanju are making plans to ensure that the protests went well.
Two reasons why the EndSARS protest is unnecessary :
1. The main motive for the protest has been disbanded :
The main reason why the protest came in the first place has been disbanded by the Nigeria Police Force.
Many Nigerians wanted the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) to be excluded as a unit in the Police Force and this has been done.
There is no more brutality and abuse of power from the SARS personnel so going on another protest is unnecessary.
2. Hoodlums may hijack the protest to cause havoc again :
Hoodlums may use the avenue to cause havoc during the EndSARS protest just like they did last year when they looted the COVID-19 palliative stores.
The protest is unnecessary and should not hold because it might cause unrest in the society.
