Recall that in the of October 2020, Nigerians youths demonstrated across major cities in a historic protest against a police brutality and a unit named SARS.
The protest went on peacefully for days untill the Nigerian military forcefully dispersed the protesters who were keeping vigil at the Lekki Tollgate plaza on the 20th of October, 2020.
It was reported that many fatalities were recorded but the authorities continue to deny, despite evidences such as those highlighted via the CNN report.
The Nigerian Army denied the report that it fired peaceful protesters, saying that it's "fake news", that it did not shoot peaceful protesters.
But on the 18th of November, CNN released evidences that Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate on the 20th of October, 2020.
On 16th of March, 2021 PEOPLE'S GAZETTE reported that the Armnesty International has shortlisted CNN's Lekki Tollgate Investigative report for the Armnesty UK Media Awards 2021.
