Why Jacob Zuma is going to jail

Mr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, an ex. president of South Africa had been admitted at Escourt Correctional Center in the country as confirmed by a statement issued by the Department of Correctional Service (DCS). Mr. Zuma is to serve a 15 months sentence after being taken through all the admission process as per DCS. Mr. Zuma according to News24, was found guilty of contempt of court in relation to an order to appear before the State Capture Inquiry. He has since then, launched urgent legal action to undo the contempt made against him. The Constitutional Court agreed that it would hear his rescission application on the 12th day of July 2021. Zuma applied for an order staying the orders granted against him by the Constitutional Court in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg.

The Zondo Commission has since then hit back, stating that Zuma's comments are nothing more than "a poorly disguised attempt to undermine the courts once again". So, right now Mr. Zuma is serving a 15 months jail term in prison and DCS personnel have ensures him a safe and secure stay.
