Hundreds Of Bandits Invade Zamfara Town

The Zamfara State Police Command has said that its operatives and other security agencies repelled an attack by bandits at Shinkafi town, the headquarters of Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state.

The bandits, who were in their hundreds, came from the camp of a notorious bandits’ kingpin, and reportedly stormed the town to carry out fresh abductions.

The police spokesperson for the state, Muhammed Shehu, made this known in a statement on Friday.

Some youths under the aegis of National Association of Idanre Students have blocked the access roads linking Idanre town to Akure in Ondo state to protest against the deplorable state of the road.

The scores of angry youths barricaded the bad sections of the roads as motorists were forced to find alternative routes to go into or out of the town.

The development has led to gridlock on the affected roads, leaving motorists and commuters helpless.

Displaying placards with various inscriptions to pads their message across to the authorities, the youths vowed not to leave the roads until their demands are met by the state government.

The Leader Of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned former president, Goodluck Jonathan against running for the presidency for a second time.

In the “prophetic warning” issued on Friday, Ayodele disclosed that Jonathan is ready to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to statement by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele said unless God changes Jonathan’s mind, he would defect to APC.

Amotekun arrests three herdsmen, 40 cows for destroying farms

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, said it had arrested three herdsmen and 40 cows for allegedly destroying some farmlands in Owode community, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The state commander of the corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, stated this while speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital on Friday.

The commander said, “We got distress calls from farmers and residents of Owode, a community very close to the Akure Airport that cows are persistently destroying their farmlands.

1,630 Criminals Jailed – NDLEA Chairman

Since January 2021, drugs worth over ₦100billion have been seized and about 1,630 criminals have arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

This is according to NDLEA Chairman, General Buba Marwa.

Addressing journalists on Friday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Gen Marwa who gave a brief of milestones attained since he became head of the NDLEA, said it is sad how low the nation had coped as regards the illegal use of drug.
