Embattled Nigerian billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudimeme 'Evans' Onwuamadike has revealed how he was coerced into admitting being a kidnapper after the police in a bid to make him confess, killed four people in his presence.
In a recent appearance before a judge on Tuesday, Evans said he is not guilty of the two-count charge on conspiracy and Kidnapping brought against him by his co- defendants. He denied all allegations levelled against him by the Lagos state government, insisting he was a legitimate businessman who deals on ornaments and horlicks.
Evans denied having any previous knowledge of the identity of his co-defendants who were paraded as members of his kidnap syndicate. He said prior to being arrested by the authorities, he had never met any of them.
Evans and the people who were paraded as members of his kidnap syndicate were accused of kidnaping one Mr Dunu in Lagos after which the sum of 223,000 Euros was allegedly collected from his family as ransom.
All the defendants during the criminal trial have maintained their silence. And although it's yet to ascertain whether Evans is saying the truth, the case has been adjourned until November 5 for the adoption of the final written addresses.
