Arrested EndSARS memorial protesters regain freedom

Protesters against SARS who were arrested at the Lekki toll gate on Wednesday have been released.

Modupe (Moe) Adele, a legal practitioner and supporter of the End SARS movement, announced this on her Twitter page.

Hundreds of people were detained by Nigerian police on Wednesday during a peaceful protest for the EndSARS memorial.

According to Moe, approximately thirty-three protesters were discovered at the state CID.

"We went looking for four people at the State CID and found 33 people," she tweeted. Every time a lawyer visits a police station, they discover a slew of others. This occurred during #EndSars and it occurred again today.

Police in Nigeria are so efficient that they arrested people, drafted charge sheets, set up Mobile Court, and arraigned people at 9 p.m. Hen, eh. So they operate at this level of efficiency? Or it only manifests itself when people are harassed for speaking out against injustice.

"We will keep our emergency numbers open until tomorrow midday, when they will be closed." Everyone who was arrested today and reported to us has been released. If anyone went out for the #EndSARSMemorial and has not returned home by daybreak, please call/text the numbers listed in the tweet below."
