Earlier today, Nigerian youths commemorated the first anniversary of EndSARS, a protest movement against police brutality that rocked major cities across the country. The EndSARS protest which started in 2020 was aimed at ending the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit, SARS, who were notorious for extortion, torture, and extrajudicial killings. Following the suspension of the anti-robbery unit, the protest continued until the October 20 massacre at the lekki toll gate.
However, as the Nigerian youths marched out today to protest in honor of the endSARS protesters who were allegedly killed during the Lekki massacre, it was reported that some of the protesters were arrested by the police.
One of the people captured on camera was an Uber who was seen begging for help, as he claimed that he wasn't a protester but an Uber guy. Following the protest, the Lagos state police CP did two things which should be commended, and there are;
1. He released all arrested protesters who identified themselves
According to the Lagos State commissioner of police, every arrested protesters who identified themselves with their ID cards and other form of identifications were released back to the group, and a witness to this is the uber driver who was reportedly arrested.
In a a recent video which was shared on Twitter, the uber guy was seen narrating how he was arrested and released by the police.

2. The Police Apologized To All Protesters
The second commendable thing that the Lagos State police did after the protest was that they apologize to all the protesters. If you could recall it was reported earlier today that the police fired teargas at the Peaceful protesters as some of them were reportedly beaten. Following this the Lagos State commissioner of police apologized and big all the protesters adding that they all took those drastic steps to maintain peace among the people and also prevent hoodlums from overtaking the protest
