Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, generally known as Evans the kidnapper has declared in court he is not a kidnapper, but a legitimate businessman who trades in ornaments and Horlicks.
He denied all kidnapping charges labeled against him by the Lagos State Government, as confirmed by his defense attorney, Victor Okpara, stating that he was a legitimate entrepreneur.
He said that his nickname was not Evans and that he was threatened to admit to being a kidnapper after witnessing four people murdered by police officers in his presence illegitimately and they aimed to intimidate him to accept the crime.
I reside at Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo Phase two, Lagos state. I am a businessman and a major distributor of ornaments and Horlicks. He continued, my name is not Evans and I don’t have an alias.
He declared that he had never come across the five co-defendants apprehended by the police force, aside from the day they were displayed as partners of a kidnapping group by the authority at Area F Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos.
