2 Ways to Plaster Buildings without using Cement

Plastering is the process of applying plastic mortar the rough surfaces such as walls, ceilings etc to obtain an even, clean and smooth surface. The plastering done on external exposed surfaces is known as rendering. In this article, we will discuss different ways in which you can plaster your buildings without using cement since the price of cement is skyrocketing every day.

The two ways to plaster buildings without using cement are explained below:

1.) Mud Plaster

Mud Plaster is the cheapest type of plaster in the construction industry. It consists of a suitable proportion of sand and clay. Make sure the clay content is free from grass, roots, stones pebbles and organic materials. Chopped raw or hemp is adopted for the mixing of mud plaster at the rate of 30kg/m3 of earth content. Mud plaster is used for temporary construction.

2.) Gypsum Plaster

Gypsum plaster is a factory-made product that is produced by partial or complete dehydration of the mineral known as mineral gypsum. It is white in colour and readily available in powder form.

The powder form is mixed with a suitable quantity of form until it forms a paste that can be applied to the surface or ceiling. The thickness of this type of plaster ranges from 6mm to 20mm. It dries as fast as possible which makes the application of paint easy without waiting for long.
