When it comes to innovative bridges Japan and China are always on the list, because out of the 20 tallest bridges in the world 14 are in China alone.
This is why today in this article I'll get to highlight 2 of the unique bridge you can only see in Japan and China:
1. The Longjiang Bridge- Baoshan in China
The Longjiang Bridge is the highest and also the longest suspension bridge in China, it is located on a river gorge in western Yunnan Province, the length of the bridge alone span a total of about 3,924ft, which makes it the longest bridge to be built in China, the height is about 958ft.
The project was completed way back in April 2016 and it was officially opened on May 1, 2016. The total cost of the bridge was about 1.96 billion Yuan.
2. The Eshima Ohashi Bridge in Japan
Not only is this bridge the largest concrete frame rigid bridge in Japan, but it is also the 3rd largest in the world. It is sometimes called the Roller Coaster Bridge, what makes this bridge so unique is the steep ascent and descent when you drive up or down the bridge.
The bridge is a 2-lane structure that is large enough to allow large cargo ships to pass below it. The total height of the bridge is 44m and it has a slope of about 5.1% on one side and 6.1% on the other. The bridge spans a length of 1.7km and has a width of 11.4m
