Photos and videos have emerged, showing the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, recently wearing the oldest crown of Oduduwa. The photos show how the monarch was assisted by his aides while surrounded by a crowd of his subjects and well-wishers.
Tradition can be defined as the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation. The Yoruba people who predominantly occupy the Southwestern part of Nigeria are often regarded as the descendants of Oduduwa. It is important to note that the Yoruba people accord great respect to their culture and tradition.
The Olojo Festival was recently held in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Ile-Ife is widely regarded as the place where Yoruba people originate from. The Ooni of Ife adorned the sacred Ade Aare at this year's edition of the Olojo Festival.
Sharing photos of himself adorning the Ade Aare, Ooni of Ife said, "Anchoring the mantle of the Olojo festival is a sacred clarion call, to which I have yielded unashamedly. Olojo remains an inspiring spiritual noble cause and a priceless inestimable gift to the world from Eledumare.
The mission of the re-unification of Oduduwa descendants through the Olojo Festival has been one of the Herculean tasks that my forbears set before me.
My sixth Olojo festival where I adorned the sacred oldest crown of Oduduwa was a heroic, pivotal, and compelling moment, as it comes with boundless blessings of the restoration of the glory of Oduduwa descendants, Nigeria, Africa and the black race.
Through the authority of my Ancestors, I speak blessings of life, health and peace into you all and our nation."
The wife of Oba Adeyeye, Queen Naomi Ogunwusi, was also spotted at the Olojo Festival.
The Olojo Festival was attended by various Nigerian dignitaries. The Iyalaje Oodua, Princess Toyin Kolade, was also spotted at the festival. Photos also show the moment Ooni Adeyeye performed the ceremonial dove release at the event.
