2021 Anambra Day will be low keyed - President General

The President General (PG) of Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA), Chief Arinze Anadu has revealed that the 2021 Anambra Day Carnival will be low keyed because of the effect of covid-19 pandemic. The PG made the disclosure in Abuja.

Anambra Day is a biannual event organized by ASTPA to show case the rich cultural heritage of the people of the state living in Abuja. The event involves cultural procession of every town from the state that registers to participate in the event. It also features cultural dance from the towns. 

The event used to hold at the Eagle Square. It attracts people from within and outside Abuja .

During the carnival, participating towns showcase their culture with any number of people from their town who want to be part of the event.

This year's edition, the PG says will not hold at an open space. This he says is to adhere to covid-19 protocols. The event will hold at the M&M event center, he further stated. He also revealed that each town will be allowed to have only 20 persons to represent them at the event and will be duly accredited to avoid the breach of covid-19 protocols.

Instead of the usual funfair associated with Anambra Day, the PG says it will feature a symposium with the theme "Taa bu gboo". And that there will be three major key note speakers and all will be from Anambra State. 

Like previous editions, this year's event, he said, will hold in the month of October, precisely October 23, 2021.
