According to reports we gathered from Daily Post, the General overseer of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, yesterday, while advising the federal government on the issue of accepting repentant Bokoharam terrorists, asked that caution should be used.

While speaking upon his arrival in Abuja for a 5-day crusade with the theme, "Divine Solution Global", Pastor Kumuyi told the federal government that although accepting repentant Bokoharam terrorists will help to restore peace, but they should be careful with the way they handle them. According to him, the government will have to look at real members that surrendered and their sincerity in doing so.

In my opinion, this advice by Pastor Kumuyi is not something that we should ignore. This is because as much as it is to our credit as a nation that these Bokoharam terrorists are surrendering, it can also be a dangerous circumstance if some of them are being hypocritical about it.
How do I mean?
If we take into consideration the fact that the federal government has been committed to fighting insecurity in Nigeria, with our gallant soldiers invading terrorists hideouts and killing them in their numbers, it becomes easy to assume that some of the Bokoharam terrorists who are surrendering may be doing so out of fear that they'll be killed or brought to justice, hence, laying down their arms seems to be a better option for them.

In such circumstances, it is unclear to decide which of the surrendering terrorists are truly remorseful for their actions and are sincere about their decision to lay down their guns. Therefore, if caution is not applied, such hypocritical ones amongst them may become another challenge for the government and indeed, the community into which they are reintegrated.
What do you have to say about this?
