In recent times, the news media in Nigeria has been reporting mostly about the male soldiers and their escapades, and you may be forced to think that there are no female soldiers in the Nigerian armed forces.
But the truth is that the Nigerian armed forces is one of the most gender neutral armed forces in Africa, with it being the first armed forces in Africa to produce the first Female Army General.
Although female soldiers did not start going into combat until recently, the females have been doing a great job of fighting off terrorists in the northern region, much as their male counterparts.
In fact, there were earlier reports that a group of female soldiers intercepted and killed a group of 9 kidnappers who were on their way to wreck havoc.
But the fact that most of these escapades of the females in the Nigerian military are not often reported is a cause of concern, since the media is supposed to show that women also play an active part in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
Reacting to the pictures which were shared online, most persons have commended the efforts of the female Soldiers, saying that they are a true representation of what equality between men and women should be.
