The Nigerian Army (NA) have decided to pathner with the Russian government for the acquisition of military equipment in bid to fight against insurgency in the north. This was revealed on Friday, October 15, by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Yahaya Faruk on Thursday, October 14, at the NA's Abuja headquarters during a courtesy of the Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated on a post on his Facebook page in which COAS Faruk notted that there is a need for the Nigerian military and Russia to join forces in order to produce results.
General Yahaya Faruk used the medium to ask for the support of the foreign government in the provision of sophisticated equipment to assist the fight against all forms of terrorism in the country.
This is a good move and we are solidly behind it. Let's all hope that this true and that terrorism is completely eradicated from our country Nigeria.
