Why Would Locals In Niger State Be Supplying Guns and Petrol To Bandits?

It surprises many Nigerians that locals in Niger State will be supplying bandits guns, arms, ammunition, and fuel they use in carrying out their nefarious attacks against the people living in surrounding villages of the State. Are they ignorant of what they are doing? They should know by now that the bandits have no mercy for human lives and properties and be thinking of curtailing their activities in the State.

According to the Niger State Police Command, three suspected bandits guns, arms, petrol runners have apprehended Sabon Makera village, where the police recovered two (2) AK-47 rifles, two (2) AK-49 rifles, sixteen (16) magazines, Four hundred and seventeen (417) live ammunition of 7.62 calibers and one hundred and fifty (150) RPG live ammunition. On the same day, bandits fuel suppliers were arrested in the Tunde-Fulani area of Minna, while purchasing the petrol in a filling Station in the Area.

What is wrong with some people? Don't they feel sober for the killings that are being perpetrated by the bandits across the North? There has not been a time in the history of Northern Nigeria that bandits have been rampant like this, they kill, kidnap for ransom and even destroy the properties of people. This year alone, bandits attacks have led to the death of more than 2000 people in Northern Nigeria.

That is why it becomes a thing of surprise to Nigerians that some Northerners will be aiding and abating the attacks on their fellow human beings. It is time people are given the right orientation in the North, not all things are about money or profit realized from a business. They should know that human life is sacred and should be treated as such. Although the activities of bandits are being reduced drastically in the North due to military offensive, government or the military can not do it alone without the support of the citizens.
