Check Out What Panelists On The Journalists' Hangout Said About The Security Situation In Nigeria

On the Tuesday edition of the TVC Journalists' Hangout, Ayo Ozugbakun hosted the program and panelists, Asuquo James and Mr Shola, were on ground to share their thoughts on security situation in Nigeria.

Here is what they had to say about it:

Asuquo: "Everyday you turn your radio on, the first thing you will hear is that people have been killed. If it is not in the North, it is in the South. It is no more making news headlines. Remember, that was how Boko Haram news was first reported, till it became very normal.

The Government needs to sit down and strategize. I keep saying it, that there is nothing wrong with the government declaring a state of emergency based on the level of insecurity in Nigeria, because this is a crisis that we need to nip in the board."

Mr Shola:

"The level of insecurity in Nigeria, is sign of a failing State and the present Government needs to sit down and think about the kind of legacy they will leave behind. Many Nigerians are angry over the insecurity and the feeling of helplessness that comes with it. Just yesterday, a video was released of people that were kidnapped on the Ife-Ijesha road. If this level of insecurity continues Nigeria, it will awaken the beast in Nigerians.

Now, it is no longer ordinary people being kidnapped ot killed, it is also touching the home of the powers that be. Very recently, the driver of an Emir was shot and this means that it was only by a stroke of luck that the Emir escaped the attack. Asuquo, suggested the declaring of a state emergency in Nigeria and I support that. Indeed the Government needs to restructure the security apparatus in this country."

Dear Nigerians, what is your take on the statements of the panelists?
