Today's Headlines: Tension As Gunmen Attack Again, Kill Two Officers; Over 8,000 B/Haram Surrendered

Gunmen, yet to be identified, have killed two policemen in Enugu State at a checkpoint.

According to Sun, the policemen were killed during a shooting incident in a security post mounted by the officers in Nachi in the Oji River Local Government Area of the state.

They were said to have died on the spot while the sound of gunshots caused pandemonium as commuters on the road scampered for safety.

Over 8,000 Boko Haram Terrorists Have Surrendered

The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Brig.-Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, says more than 8,000 Boko Haram terrorists have so far surrendered to troops.

He said the terrorists surrendered from their enclaves in Sambisa Forests, as well as other hideouts.

Eyitayo, who is also the Commander, Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed this during a visit by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu and a team of Defence Correspondents form Abuja on Tuesday, in Maiduguri.

He said the surrender by the repentant terrorists was a welcome development, adding that, the overwhelming fire power of the troops was responsible

The Bauchi State Police Command has revealed the identity of the woman killed in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state, saying she’s Mrs. Rifkatu Yohanna, 35 years old.

The punch had reported that the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim, in a statement made available to journalists Tuesday evening, condemned “an incident” in Tafawa Balewa LGA of the state which claimed the life of one woman.
