Why The Military Should Be Careful Of The Additional 2,783 Bokoharam That Just Surrendered

When there is unity, all enemies will be put to their knees. Terrorist groups such as bandits, Bokoharam, ISWAP, ESN will all be defeated by Nigeria. They have caused this country a lot of damages in terms of the lives and properties of people. They have killed a lot of security personnel and destroyed critical infrastructure across the country. It is not possible that terrorists will subdue a sovereign country like Nigeria, victory is for Nigeria.

Their aim is to divide Nigeria and turn it into Libya or Somalia, where no constituted authority looks at the affairs of the people. But the resolve of the state won't give them a breathing space to continue their nefarious activities in any guise, as either secessionists or jihadists. Currently, military operations are ongoing in the North West and North East Nigeria. The military is pushing terrorists to the wall, so much that they have nowhere to escape and hide.

All the previous places that they have used as hideouts and sanctuaries have been bombarded by the Nigerian Airforce aircraft, even the thick forest of Zamfara, Sokoto, Timbuktu, Sambisa and Lake Chad fortresses have all been ransacked by the military. To make the fight against insurgency in Nigeria very effective, the government employed the Sri Lanka approach, a system that caught off terrorist logistics, telecommunications and follow it up with baptism of fire.

This tripartite process has yielded a good result in the war against insurgency in Nigeria. According to a report by Daily Nigerian, about 10,000 insurgents have surrendered to the Nigerian military of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri and more than 2,783 terrorists and their family members surrendered to the troops between September 2nd and then 30th, as a result of the intensity of fire from artillery and air bombardment.

However, The military should be careful of the additional Bokoharam that surrendered because they might be informants that are seeking information about military operations to further their quest at unleashing terror on the lives and properties of people in Nigeria. The military should make sure they are well profiled and rehabilitated before being allowed into the society. This are hardened criminals that might not repent easily.
