2 Wrong Statements Chiwetalu Agu Made As He Spoke About Bandits Terrorising Northern Nigeria

The Northern part of Nigeria for some time now has been hit with the plagues of banditry. Bandits seemed to be carrying out their attacks with impunity and it looked like they are determined to become the new lord of North West if they are not stopped by the Nigerian government.

Bandits have claimed responsibility for different crimes perpetrated in Northern Nigeria. They recently bombed the Abuja-Kaduna rail track and that made many passengers travel through the dreaded Abuja-Kaduna expressway.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu has shared his thought regarding the menace of bandits in the Northern part of Nigeria. Many Nigerians have likened bandits to Boko Haram and had called on the Nigerian government to proscribe them.

But the Nigerian government believe that bandits can't be proscribed because they don't have a flag, an organisation and they haven't openly disregarded Nigeria as a sovereign state like IPOB and Boko Haram did.

Chiwetalu Agu was recently released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Recall, that he was arrested over his outfit which was more like that of the Biafra flag. His opinion regarding bandits causing havoc in Northern Nigeria might not be 100% in place. He made mention of two things that could be untrue and unnecessary.

1. The North is the epicentre of inhumanity and atrocities:

Chiwetalu Agu got it wrong by saying the North can't be compared to the South in terms of inhumanity and atrocities. Every region has their shortcomings, no region is 100% secured.

While bandits are causing havoc in the North, unknown gunmen are rampaging in the South. So this statement isn't what we need at a time like this. We should call a spade, a spade and not laying blames based on regions. We need each other to survive.

2. Buhari knows the bandits terrorising Nigeria:

There is no proof to this claim as it stands, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is treating bandits in the language they understand. The president made it clear that he would not negotiate with criminals or unscrupulous elements.

President Muhammadu Buhari was never interested in knowing who these bandits are, he made it clear that if they don't repent, they would learn the hard way and he even issued out a "shoot at sight" order to the military.
