The Nigerian Army's operation in the southeast region continued today with the arrest of Awurum Eze, a notorious IPOB second-in-command leader. After a weeks-long manhunt, the military apprehended the 48-year-old native of Umuneke Nta in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state.
In a statement, the Director of Army Public Relations said Eze had escaped from his village on May 4 when Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives stormed his village house in Isiala Mbano, where he was hiding.
The fugitive, on the other hand, was apprehended and taken away by the army to an unknown location. According to the Army, all of the arrested IPOB members confessed that Eze is the second in command too late Ikonso, who was killed by the police a few days ago following a fierce gun battle. He also revealed that he is the only person in Nigeria who has a direct connection to Nnamdi Kanu.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
We decided to dig up a photo of Awurum Eze posing with Nnamdi Kanu in the past after he was arrested. As confessed by arrested IPOB members, this clearly shows that Eze was in direct contact with Nnamdi Kanu.
This article, on the other hand, has received a lot of interest. The majority of people believe that the soldiers have made a wise decision. Members of the affected communities, on the other hand, were asked to assist in the search for all members of the proscribed IPOB and ESN.
Others, on the other hand, hold a different viewpoint. This group of people believed Eze should be given a fair trial.
What are your thoughts on the subject?
• Do you believe he was falsely accused?
• Do you believe he is a member of the IPOB?
