In line with their noble mission to eradicate bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers and other sundry criminals from the Northern part of Nigeria, gallant troops of Combat Team 1, operation SAHEL SANITY with the support of Air Task Force yesterday, July 18,2020, advanced and captured one of the notorious armed bandits strongholds located deep in the forest in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State known as Dangote Camp.
According to a tweets from the official Twitter handle of the Nigeria Defence Headquarters, initial resistance by the bandits was effectively subdued by the the superior tactics and dexterity of the troops which resulted in killing some of the bandits.
At the end of the gunfight which occur between the troops and the bandits, 17 bandits were killed while several others were believed to have escaped with different degree of gunshots wounds as evident by the trails of blood along the escape routes.
Among the weapons recoverd from the bandits are, 5 AK-47 rifles, 3 Dane Guns, 152 rounds of 7.62mm special Ammunition, 2 AK-47 rifle magazines and 7 Motorcycles.
According to the tweets, 1 brave officer and 2 gallant soldiers lost their lives in the gunfight while 4 other soldiers were wounded in the action, however all the wounded soldiers are currently responding positively to treatment in a military medical facility.
In the same vain, troops conducting fighting patrol along Faskari - Scheme -Dandume road in Katsina State, arrested 5 suspected bandits including one female yesterday July 18, 2020.
One if the arrested suspects, identified as Bashir Usman who claimed to be police officer during interogation could not validate his claim with any form of identification was apprehended with 1 AK-47 rifle loader with 28 rounds of Ammunition while riding on a motorcycle.
Other items recoverd from him include one handset, and the sun of Six Thousand three hundred and fifty naira only (6,350.00). All suspects are presently undergoing preliminary interogation.
