The Chief of Naval Staff visited the Nigerian Naval Base at Lake Chad, Borno State, See the pictures

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) identified as Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo visited the Nigerian Naval Base located at Lake Chad Borno State.

Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo urged the officers and ratings of the Lake Chad Naval Base in Baga, Borno State to be active in discharging their duties ranging from protection and surveillance around the Lake Chad area in Borno State.

The CNS identified as Awwal Zubairu Gambo also charged the security officers and personnel to be vigilant and alert at various duty posts at all times to apprehend insurgents and other criminal elements in their area of responsibility.

This development came at a time when Nigeria is facing security challenges from bandits and terrorist groups like the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram in the Northeast of Nigeria.

Lake Chad basin and the surrounding areas in the Northeast of Nigeria have been greatly affected by Boko Haram and the ISWAP group in the past few years, but the recent operation carried out by the Nigerian military has continued to make unexpected progress in a very short time.
