Security Agents Intercept A Truck Loaded With Fulani Trying To Relocate To Kwara State

The Joint Task Force (JTF) has apprehended a large group of herders, suspected to be Fulani, who are planning to settle in Kwara.

Personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the Nigerian Army, and the Police make up the JTF.

The intercepted herdsmen were in huge numbers, according to a statement issued on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in Ilorin by NSCDC spokesman, Babawale Afolabi.

Mr. Afolabi said the herders, who were intercepted at the Erinle-Offa axis, were on their way to the end of the Kwara-Osun state border with some of their animals.

According to Daily Nigerian, the herders and their cows were on their way to Ajase Ipo, a town in Kwara with a substantial Fulani population, according to him.

They have been escorted to their location and an investigation has started to uncover their mission in the state.

However, the interception of the Fulani herdsmen by security agents has generated different reactions on social media. Some believe that it is wrong for security agents to stop Fulani herdsmen from moving anywhere in the country because they are also Nigerians.
