Army Clears Air Over Mild Complaints By Frontline Troops

The Nigerian army headquarter has cleared the air over mild complaints by the front line troops' deployment. This was revealed by the director of public relations on their official Facebook page.

He revealed that their awareness has been drawn to an unfounded report running around on the mainstream media that Soldiers of an anonymous battalion in Operation Lafiya Dole have revolted their posting to an area in the Theatre of Operation.

He explained that the reports also asserted that the disgruntled soldiers, blockaded the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Borno State, firing sporadically into the air on Thursday to express their feelings over alleged unpaid Operational allowances as well as obsoleted material.  

Furthermore, for the histories, The Headquarters Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE wants to state that the requests were unsubstantiated did not depict the true circumstance of the happenings. He said.

Initial studies by Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Farouq Yahaya disclosed that what some media news interpreted as the protest was a soft complaint by few soldiers of the Mobile Strike Team (MST), deployed for Exercise Tura Takaibango in the frontline of Operations. He explained.

He explained further that nearly 3 pm on 25 March 2021, the majority of the armies of Mobile Strike groups 10 & 11 who were groomed to perform phase 2 of Exercise TURA TAKAIBANGO in Bama after the first phase of the workout, put forward some concerns which were rapidly dealt with before they were relaunched to the following phase of the Operations.  

On the issue of ‘obsolete weapons’ as broadcasted in some media, the stance of Army Headquarters is that soldiers have the freedom to demand adequate weapons to arraign the operations. Yet, the Federal Government was propelling concerted actions toward deploying new battle tools to improve the occurring ones in the Theatre of Operation. He said.

He explained that the army hopes to also deny the information that any soldier was inhabited any operational fees. No soldier has inhabited any Fee in the Theatre. 

He concluded that will proceed to persist concentrated and assumed to accomplish our constitutional parts and obligations professionally in the safety of the autonomy of the country e and guaranteeing the protection of lives and property while they evacuate the terrorists, their companions, and partners in the country.
