Army Raises Alarm Over Massive ISWAP Recruitment

The Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) has started recruiting massively, according to the army.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyeama Nwachukwu, disclosed this at the Headquarters of the Theatre Command, Operation Hadin Kai Maimalari, during a tour in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Sunday.

He advised the members of the public to be on the lookout within their immediate environment, adding that it is very important to engage the media to block this recruitment.

Sanwo-Olu signs anti-open grazing bill into law

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, has signed a law to prohibit open cattle grazing in the state.

The governor signed the law on Monday at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

The Lagos house of assembly had on September 9 passed the bill and transmitted it to the governor for assent.

Dollar hits N575 two days after Aboki FX update suspension

The dollar rose to between N572 and N575 in different parts of the country on Monday barely two days after online platform, Aboki FX, stopped providing updates on the exchange rate.

Punch correspondent, who visited the ever-busy Wuse Zone 4 which is the hub of bureau de change operators in Abuja, observed that the dollar was sold for N574 as opposed to the N570 it was sold for on Friday.

In Lagos, the dollar was sold at N572 while in Kano it was N575 as of 3pm on Monday.

The pound was sold for N780 as opposed to N770 last Friday.

Group Demands Emefiele’s Resignation As Nigeria's Central Bank Governor

The Arewa Youth Assembly, a socio-economic and socio-political group has called for the resignation or sacking of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele.

According to the northern group, doing so will save the nation from further economic meltdown.

They insisted that the sum of N500 billion which was stolen in a private Dubai investment towards the end of 2018 should be investigated as well as other funds that went missing during Emefiele’s administration.

The Federal Government says in spite of the challenging times the country has gone through over the years, its resolve to remain as one indivisible entity has remained unshaken.  

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated this on Monday in Abuja at the opening of the [email protected] year long photo exhibition. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, with the theme “69 Years of our Togetherness”, was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan
