On multiple occasions, the operatives of the Nigerian security forces deployed in the northwestern region of the country have nabbed women supplying arms and other logistics to camps belonging to bandits terrorising villages and remote communities in the area. This is the highest act of irresponsibility by these women. They take advantage of their Hijabs to conceal the weapons and act like normal women who pose no threat. It is disheartening that these women support the nefarious crimes being perpetrated in the region by different bandit groups. It took great effort and tactics by the security forces to uncover such behaviour.
The Hijab is a sacred symbol of Islam which women are mandated to use to cover their bodies in public. It gives women the opportunity to protect their bodies and maintain their dignity. It is embarrassing that some criminal elements are violating this advantage. Bandits usually attack communities in the northwestern region and abduct students or motorists. They rustle their ruminant animals and pillage their food stores.
The bandits usually force their victims into the bush and jam-packed them into their hideouts to demand huge ransoms from their families or government. The bandits subject their victims to cruelty and hardship. But all these have not prevented some women from providing arms and logistics to the criminals. The special tactical command has on multiple occasions arrested such women in checkpoints, camps or commercial vehicles.

Nigeria faces different security challenges which are causing significant loss of revenue generation to the government. The federal government has deployed security agents across the affected areas. The leadership of the Nigerian army has recently launched a nationwide operation to tackle threats and improve security. The security forces call for public support in reporting suspicious persons or activities within their surroundings. More efforts are being implemented to restore normalcy, peace and unity in the country.
