The Zamfara State Government has announced that security operatives have arrested a soldier and his girlfriend on suspicion of supplying weapons, ammunition and uniforms (khaki) to the militants. Freedom Radio Reported this.
Speaking to reporters in Gusau, the state capital, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Zamfara State Government House, Dr. Bashir Muhammad Maru said security in the state would soon be resolved as a result of the intelligence report getting from people. He said the soldiers managed to arrest one of them along with his girlfriend who they suspected were gunmen hunting dogs.
Dr Bashir Muhammad Maru also said that the arrests were made as a result of the co-operation of the public in providing intelligence to the security forces in the state.
"His Excellency, The Governor has repeatedly said in the past that there is corruption on all sides in aiding the militants, this arrest by the military confirms their earlier allegations," said Bashir Muhammad Maru.
