According to a SaharaReporters report, the Army Public Relations Director, Brig. Gen. Onyeama Nwachukwu revealed that Islamic States terrorists (ISWAP) are doing all things possible to recruit new members after about half of their members surrendered to the Nigerian military. This should raise concern for the Security Operatives and citizens living in the North. They should know that if ISWAP can recruit more fighters, their nefarious activities will continue.
They should be oriented about the evils of these terrorists and the end of whoever becomes a terrorist. If possible, religious leaders should be invited by the government to talk to the people about the punishment of engaging in such nefarious activities against the State. But not a religious leader like Sheikh Gumi, who is sympathetic to the terrorists. The terrorists went on killing, looting, destroying communities, and intimidating young and Olds, and instead of punishment, they are rehabilitated, trained, and empowered
Thanks to Gumis's tantalizing offer of wealth, the bandits/terrorists have carried out acts of morbid depravity and cruelty in an attempt to shock the President to the negotiating table. Sheikh Gumi says he has access to information. Isn't it time for an appointment with the DSS concerning that information? Some media houses also disseminate terrorist propaganda, allowing terrorist sympathizer Sheikh Gumi on their platform to spew hate, giving him recognition as a brand.
To curb terrorism in Nigeria, the security operatives should be proactive, by going on an offensive against Bandits and terrorists and not wait until they attack first before looking for them. They would have unleashed terror on their victims if they wait, and this terror they unleashed is not reversible. Apart from this, the military should be able to track fleeing bandits and terrorists after offensive operations. The way bandits are being sent to their makers, their activities will soon come to an end in Nigeria.
