It is almost two months now that Zamfara State and its environs are under telecommunications shutdown, market closure, and military offensive on bandits. Little have been heard of attacks from bandits that were attacking lives and properties of people in the State. A situation that proves the tripartite process against the bandits to be effective.

Although, as the bandits are feeling the hit from the blockages and now attacking soft targets, the people of Zamfara State are also not living in haven as they use to be. It is not easy to be excommunicated from other parts of the country through the telecommunications shutdown. The people might be affected but it is temporary before the State is rid of all bandits that have been killing and kidnapping people for ransom for years.
The blockage is working, bandits are fleeing from their hideouts to neighboring States like Sokoto. There were reports that they are even fleeing toward the South. As these bandits are fleeing, they need foods to eat which makes them attack soft targets on their way. According to a report by Daily Trust, armed bandits invaded the Kuryar Madaro community of Kauran Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State around 10 pm on the night of Tuesday's killing Nineteen (19) villagers and setting many vehicles and houses on fire.
The bandits looted foodstuffs and animals belonging to the villagers. This looting is a testimony that the bandits are now devising new methods of getting supplies. Since they have been able to source for other methods of telecommunications by using neighboring country's Telcom satellites, they are looking for a way to get food. They have explored the idea of forcing villagers to get them food and fuel from the cities, but this method has failed woefully as many of their suppliers are being arrested daily.
