The Killing of 4 IPOB Militants In Abia & The Need To Commend Security Agents In The East

According to the PUNCH newspaper, no less than four members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were killed by the Nigerian Army in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

The militants enforcing IPOB's sit-at-home order were armed with guns and cutlasses. They were harassing innocent civilians before coming across an army troop on the road.

The hoodlums engaged the soldiers in a gun battle and four were killed in the process, while others escaped with bullet wounds.

This incident was further confirmed by the Abia State police command in a statement by the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Janet Agbede, that members of the group numbering about 50 had attacked the soldiers with guns and machetes and some of them were killed by soldiers on guard at First Bank Arochukwu.

The police urged members of the public to report anyone with bullet wounds at the nearest police station.

In my opinion, the security agents in the South East are trying their best to restore stability in the troubled region, and there is a need to commend them.

The people of South East should commend and encourage the military to do more in the region.

There is no better way to commend the military and other security agencies than doing the following things.

1. The people should provide them with credible information that will lead to the success of their operations in the region.

They should point out the hideouts of the unknown gunmen and militants troubling the region.

I believe the unknown gunmen are not ghosts, they are also human beings. Many people know their hideouts in the east.

2. The people should also encourage the military by supporting them with material things. They should give them food and water when they see them on the streets.

There should be a friendly relationship between the people and the military to sustain their operations in the region.
