The United States of America Navy Ship has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria for a three-day training with the Nigerian Navy.

The US Mission Nigeria confirmed this in a statement released on its Twitter handle on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
The statement: "Training with our partners is what we do!
The U.S. Navy ship Hershel Woody Williams arrived in Lagos to participate in a three-day maritime training exercise with the Nigerian Navy. #PartnershipsMatter #USNavy"
The arrival of the US Navy came a few days after the US Congress reportedly blocked the sales of weapons to the Nigerian government over the abuse of human rights.
The Nigerian military and the US military have been strong partners over the years. Many of the weapons used by the Nigerian military are from the United States.
The US Army also provides training to its Nigerian counterparts on a regular basis. The arrival of the US Navy in Nigeria shows that the relationship between the two countries is very strong.
