Terrorists kill 10, abduct 20 in Kaduna community

Vanguard news reported that terrorists have struck once again, this time in Kaduna state, leaving at least ten people dead and abducting about twenty others in a fresh attack on the Kajinjiri community in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state. The incident occurred on the night of May 16, 2023, when the terrorists, suspected to be bandits, stormed the community and began shooting sporadically.


According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen arrived in large numbers on motorcycles and started shooting indiscriminately, causing residents to flee for safety. In the process, they killed ten people and abducted at least twenty others, including women and children.


Confirming the incident, the Kaduna State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige, said the attack was reported to the police around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. He added that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers and will do everything possible to rescue the victims.


Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has expressed sadness over the attack and called on the security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. He also appealed to residents of the state to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities to maintain peace and security in the state.
