The former Vice-Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Daniel Saror has alleged that the insecurity in different parts of Nigeria is a deliberate strategy initiated by Islamic extremists to spread Islam in the country. He insisted that Boko Haram terrorists are intelligent people who are highly connected to stakeholders in Nigeria and other countries in the world.
Having seen Prof Bello's opinion on the reason behind insecurity in Nigeria, what do you think about his opinion? Is he right for saying that Bokoharam's insurgency and insecurity are strategies initiated by some stakeholders in the country to islamize Nigeria?
In my own opinion, the insecurity challenges in Nigeria is just a normal challenge any nation can face at any possible time. Attributing it to Islamization agenda is not factual. This is because, if Bokoharam insurgency is a strategy initiated to islamize Nigeria, Bokoharam terrorist won't have been killing Muslims in the North. Both Christians and Muslims were being killed by Bokoharam. So, it is baseless to attribute insecurity and insurgency in Nigeria as a strategy to islamize the country.
There's a possibility that Bokoharam might have sponsors both in Nigeria and abroad as claimed by the professor. Moreover, many Nigerians have similar speculations about Bokoharam's sponsors. However, saying that it is a strategy to islamize Nigeria is an idea I won't buy.
What do you think about professor Bello's opinion?
