This was made known by the Ukrainian military General Staff on Thursday stating that “In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to advance."

They also confirmed that the Russians are present within the city itself, rather than just on the outskirts.
Despite these advances, the Ukrainian military has stated that it has no intention of withdrawing from Bakhmut and is still holding its ground there.
"Our defenders repelled attacks in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut and Ivanivske,” the General Staff said on Thursday.
This is coming after the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed yesterday that the Russians are using more experienced fighters from the Wagner Group on its assault on the city.
The small city of Bakhmut is a strategic town in the east of the country, capturing it could allow the Russians to use it as a launchpad for assault on urban areas in the west.
