Evicted Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir has distanced himself from the latest attack in Igangan area of the State.
Abdulkadir said he would have defended himself if he had the “mercenaries” when he was attacked.
Recall that on Saturday, some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen killed scores in Igangan, Ibarapa North local government of Oyo State.
The Palace of the Asigangan and a popular petroleum station were razed in the attack.
The herdsmen, said to be over 50, allegedly invaded the town around 11 pm in more than 20 motorcycles.
Sources said no fewer than 20 persons have died in the attack.
The attack occurred days after chairman Oyo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps, General Kunle Togun (rtd) alleged foreign Fulanis have encamped the entire Southwest region and may strike if nothing was done urgently.
Reacting to the allegations of being aware of the attack, Sarkin Fulani said:
“They killed my people, destroyed my properties, I know nothing about the attacks.
“If I had the mercenaries, I would have defended myself when my palace was invaded by Sunday Igboho and his men.
“I have lost everything. I have been living from hands to mouth. I don’t have any mercenaries fighting for me. I leave everything in the hand of God.”
