Bokoharam: To Reduce Them To Point Zero, Govt. Should Encourage Resistance & Self-defense

Bokoharam is a terrorist group in Nigeria that is inspired by imperialism in collaboration with dogmatic pseudo-Islamic chauvinist ideas. And whose philosophy is to annihilate or eliminate anybody who doesn't believe in their pious sect. Their clandestine system of warfare needs education and enlightenment from the public as they kill even non-Muslims and Muslims alike.

The recent developments inside Boko Haram and ISWAP civil war are; Shekau's death, the defection of 13,000 members including their families, and recently Al-Barnawi's death. And according to a report by Punch, The National Security Adviser to the President, Maj. Gen. Babagana Mongonu (rtd) has announced the killing of Malam Bako, the successor of Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, the leader of the Islamic State of West African Province. Mongonu revealed this when he addressed State House correspondents on the outcome of the meeting of security chiefs, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday.

This is a testimony that Bokoharam has reached the point of no return on its road to final disintegration and annihilation. But let’s not get complacent. There is still a lot of work to do. So let's stop Bokoharam from recovering and accelerate its final defeat by escalating the military and non-military efforts. To completely reduce them to point zero, the governments should employ mass awareness and consciousness on their methods.

Train more JTF in every community in the affected areas, arm them, encourage resistance and self-defense to forestall the catastrophe. Finally, counter-escape forces should be mounted in all escape routes bordering neighboring states where military offensives on Bokoharam fighters are being carried out, so that they won't have anywhere to hide.

Now is the time for our gallant security men to double their efforts and defeat both Bokoharam and Bandits, and restore normalcy within affected communities in Nigeria. Nigerians understand that the military and other security agencies have done a lot and are appreciated for their patriotism, as well as gallantry roles played in the fight against the insurgency of Bokoharam that has lingered for over a decade.
