Why A Thorough Investigation Is Needed As Soldiers Allegedly Set Shops And Houses On Fire In Imo

According to a report from Punch, soldiers allegedly set some shops and houses ablaze in Awo-Omamma community, Imo State, on 22nd November 2021.

According to a viral video, a man was heard blaming the Nigerian army for the shops and houses which were on fire. It was gathered that a soldier was killed in the area before the shops were set ablaze.

This is a serious issue that needs the immediate attention of the government. If the army was truly behind the burning of shops and houses in Awo-Omamma community as claimed by some people, then it is something to worry about.

A lot of people have lost their only source of income to the fire, some people have also been rendered homeless.

However, we cannot rule out the possibility of the attack being carried out by criminals pretending to be military men, that is why a thorough investigation is needed in this case.

As of now, no official statement has been given by the army concerning the burning of shops and houses in the community, let's keep our fingers crossed.
