As Nigerian security forces continue with their operations against criminals terrorising the southeastern region of the country, there have been reports of attacks on soldiers by the alleged 'unknown gunmen' in Enugu and Anambra state. This may degenerate into more chaos and tension because no country can ignore such a catastrophic attack on its first responders (security forces). The continuous attacks on personnel are generating mixed reactions, especially across social media platforms. The security forces are deployed to tackle the wanton destruction of public properties by violent agitators.
Continuous attacks on security formations and outposts by members of the proscribed organisations will equate to more problems for violent criminals. The security forces will not relent on their approaches to neutralise the 'unknown gunmen' and destroy their hideouts. It is their mandate to enforce law and order irrespective of how dangerous the situation may become. Regrettably, there has been a number of attacks on security formations in the southeastern region of the country by hoodlums.
The special tactical command comprises security agents from relevant bodies to conduct joint operations so as to restore normalcy and stability in the region. Such officers are considered professional agents selected across multiple security agencies.
It is reckless to undermine the security forces deployed to fight violent behaviours in the southeastern region of the country. The political leaders, traditional rulers and influential personalities from the region have a role to play in restoring peace and unity in the region. The likes of Mr Joe Igbokwe, Chief Orji Kalu etc are contributing their quotas by calling on the people to stop the violent attacks and embrace Nigeria's diversity.

Insecurity alters the economic growth and development of a country. Apart from the loss in revenue generation to the government, the situation has affected local businesses as a result of the alleged Sit-At-Home order imposed by the proscribed organisation.
