According to the news report from CNN; In a recent interview with Dmytro Komarov, Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov shared the details of his delegation's negotiations with Russian invaders in Belarus back in February 2022.
Also, according to Reznikov, the Ukrainian delegation refused an offer to enter Belarus through the occupied part of Ukraine and instead flew in a NATO Black Hawk helicopter from Poland to Belarusian soil. Reznikov noted that this was the first time NATO helicopters had ever landed on Belarusian soil.
During the negotiations, the Ukrainian delegation asked the Russian representatives to take back the bodies of their dead soldiers. Reznikov recalled that the Russians refused to confirm the number of their dead soldiers, despite the fact that the Ukrainians had already counted about 3,000 Russian dead.
The Defense Minister suggested that the Red Cross could act as an intermediary to help send the bodies of the invaders back home, but the Russians refused.
Reznikov said that he even offered to transport the bodies of the Russian soldiers in railcars, but the Russians would not have returned the railcars.
The Ukrainian Defense Minister was struck by the cynicism of the Russian negotiators and their refusal to take responsibility for their fallen soldiers. Despite this, Reznikov and his delegation remain committed to negotiating a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
