[Opinion] Banditry: The 30 Abducted Passengers And The Need For The Nigerian Military To Rescue Them

Kidnappings in Nigeria have been one of the major challenges that the country faces each day, and this act done by mostly bandits in the northern region has also been the major target of our Nigerian military to not only apprehend them, but to finally put an end to their criminal deeds.

The North, being vulnerable to these attacks by bandits, has no doubt seen some improvement from the security operatives where new tactics, with advanced weaponry have been used to fight banditry.

However, due to the increased efforts from the military in some affected states in those regions, these bandits seems to have moved on to other states, where, according to a verified publication, a recent abduction by bandits in Niger State was reported.

The abduction saw not less than 30 people in Zungeru Garij Gabas highway who were going to another state inside three seater buses, been kidnapped by these bandits who were heavily armed.

These abducted innocent victims may probably now be made to face unfortunate ordeals in the hands of their abductors, with their families and loved ones unaware of their plight.

Such a pathetic moment indeed calls for an immediate rescue plan from the Nigerian military, as they have done in the past. This is also necessary because residents in neighbouring states which haven't experienced constant attacks by these bandits may begin to fear for their safety that these criminals may soon advance to their state or region.

However, rescuing those abducted passengers, ensuring that they return to their loved ones will not only take away such fears from people, but, on the other hand, will prove to these criminals that their end is inevitable, irrespective of where they may flee to.

The Nigerian military should swiftly act and rescue those passengers, as it is one of the paths to success against banditry. What's your opinion towards this?
