Naira redesign: Buhari’s order to CBN will do magic – Etiaba
Three days after the Supreme Court verdict on the old Naira notes’ validity, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Emeka Etiaba, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, would end the weeks-long currency crisis.

“The Federal Government has been directed by the Supreme Court, by inference its agency, in this case, the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“A statement, directive from President Muhammadu Buhari to the Governor of the Central Bank will work magic; it does not need to take one week”, he stated.

My life still under threat, Rivers collation officer cries out
One week after announcing results of the presidential election in Rivers State, the Collation Officer, Prof. Charles Adias, has cried out over unabated threat to his life.
The don, who is also the vice chancellor of Federal University Otuoke (FUO), had, during collation of results, announced to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital of the adjournment of the exercise due to threat to his life and family members.
He alleged that some persons, especially members of the LP, were after his life, despite having nothing to do with conduct of elections and computation of results.
He said those accusing him of rigging election in Rivers State were circulating his picture and personal information on social media and calling on their members to deal with him.
Ebonyi APC Amassed Ak-47 To Disrupt March 11 Polls, PDP Alleges
The Campaign Council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ebonyi State, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government had procured and distributed arms and ammunition across the 174 wards in the state with the intention of disrupting the March 11 governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the state.
Director General of the PDP Campaign Council in the state, Austin Igwe-Edeze, who made the allegation, on Sunday, while briefing journalists in Abakaliki, alleged that he had been reliably informed that the APC-led government had distributed four AK-47 in each ward across 171 wards in the state with the intention of disrupting the Saturday’s elections.
According to Edeze, if the four AK-47 per ward, which was allegedly distributed officially, is added to the ones acquired unofficially by the APC in the state, it means that we have over 1,500 AK-47 awaiting the coming election.
Edeze, who alleged that the APC won the just concluded National Assembly elections in the State through massive rigging and violence, however, warned that it would not be business as usual, as the PDP would do everything legally possible to protect their votes in the coming election.
He said: “Heaven knows we were robbed in the last elections but we are not going to be robbed again. We already know that they come with violence. We already know what they do and would want to repeat it in the next election. We are aware that they have amassed a lot of arms and ammunition.
Guber poll: No talk with LP — Lagos PDP declares
Lagos State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has debunked claims by the Labour Party, LP, Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour that he is talking with “the real owners of PDP structure” in Lagos State for possible alliance towards the March 11 gubernatorial poll.
The party, through Publicity Secretary and Chairman, Media and Publicity Team for JandorFunke 2023 Campaign Council, Hakeem Amode, debunked the claim in a statement on Monday.
The rebuttal followed a recent statement credited to Rhodes-Vivour and a “purported message broadcasted on a Twitter handle @zuccinille” who claimed that Jandor would collapse his structure to work for a certain political party.
The statement read in part: “The claim as credited to the Labour Party Candidate came as disrespect to PDP, as no one can lay claims to the ownership structure of the PDP. PDP is a proper Democratic Party and it’s only the State Executive of the party as recognised by the National Body can be described as the custodian of the PDP under the leadership of the party’s Governorship Candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor).
“So whoever Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is talking to is only representing themselves and not Lagos PDP, as no official conversation across the two-party lines at the moment, and Jandor is NOT planning to step down for any candidate.
“Jandor as a candidate in this election achieved making the Jandor brand a household name in Lagos on his own merit due to his immense hard work, and he’s not riding on any sudden waves.
“We are using this opportunity to urge our teeming supporters and good people of Lagos that the decision of the people to ensure that Lagos breaks free will be respected and defended in the coming gubernatorial election of March 11.
“The efforts to liberate Lagos from the present oligarchy government of APC cannot be undermined by people who do not see such a great battle that must be won and cannot be subjected to social media cruise.”
