"We Don't Go On Strike" - NYSC Warns Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps on Friday told service members and prospective corps members to be disciplined and commit to following the organization's rules because the NYSC does not go on strike.

The organization urged members of the body to be agents of change and work to dispel the myth of the COVID-19 vaccination, adding that during the recent strike by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, "NYSC corps personnel was working ".

The NYSC has also drawn the attention of potential corp members to the use of social media, stressing that they need to follow official NYSC handles for authentic information.

A statement from NYSC Director (Press and Public Relations) Adenike Adeyemi, said its director-general, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, made the appeal during a webinar hosted by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control in conjunction with the NYSC with the goal of raising awareness and sensitising the 2021 Batch ‘C’ prospective corps members on the safety measures taken to ensure a safe and COVID-19 free orientation course across the country.

"We don't go on strike," the NYSC DG warned in the statement.

He recommended that they quickly seize the opportunity provided by the Federal Government by making themselves available for the COVID-19 vaccination which is currently ongoing across the country.

According to him, the NCDC / NYSC partnership has remained strong in the fight against the deadly pandemic.
